The structure of prokaryotic and
eukaryotic ribosomes, and the functional states of the ribosome in
the course of initiation, elongation
and termination are being studied by advanced methods of
cryo-electron microscopy and computer reconstruction. The goal is to
advance our understanding of translation and protein synthesis.
