Students applying for the Ph.D. program must submit their application
packet to the Office of Graduate
Admissions by January 1 to receive full consideration for a graduate
assistantship. Students applying for the Master of Science program must
submit their application through the
website http://www.sophas.org by April 1.
All applicants must also complete the
supplemental application.
Students who wish to apply for a fellowship in Biodefense and Emerging
Infectious Diseases must submit a brief essay discussing their
interests and outlining their goals in the area of biodefense and
emerging infectious diseases.
Applicants to either the M.S. or Ph.D. program are expected
to hold a baccalaureate with a combined total of at least 42 credits
in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics. A minimum of
18 credits in one of these areas is required, with at least 6
credits in each of the other areas. Applicants are required to
submit official scores of the Graduate Record Examination aptitude
test; the advanced test in biology, chemistry, or physics is recommended.
A minimum score of 600 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language
(TOEFL) (or 250 on the computerized test) is required for international
students.
