Applicants for the Ph.D. program in Biomedical Sciences must submit their application packets through the SOPHAS website http://www.sophas.org by January 1 to receive full consideration for a graduate assistantship. Applicants to the M.S. program must submit their application through the SOPHAS website by April 1.
All applicants must also complete the supplemental application. Students who wish to apply for a fellowship in Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases should submit a brief essay discussing their interests and outlining their goals. More information is available in the supplemental application.
Applicants to either the M.S. or Ph.D. program are expected to hold a baccalaureate degree. Typical applicants have majored in the biological, chemical or physical sciences or have a combined total of at least 42 credits in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, mathematics or related STEM fields. Applicants are required to submit official scores of the Graduate Record Examination aptitude test. In addition, the advanced test in biology, chemistry or physics is recommended. A minimum score of 600 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (or a score of 250 on the computerized test or 100 on the internet-based test) is required for international students to be considered for graduate assistantships.
