Biodefense and EID Pre- and Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunities
Opportunities are available for pre- and post-doctoral fellows who need supplemental training or who have an interest or a “gap” in a specific area:
Meetings and Journal Clubs:
Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases Journal Club – Weekly meetings are held to discuss recently published high-impact research articles related to biological threat agents and emerging infections.

Breakfast Club – Presentations are conducted on a weekly basis by pre-doctoral and post-doctoral fellows on their current research.

Infectious Disease, Virology and Immunology Journal Clubs – Weekly meetings are held to discuss current literature in infectious disease, virology, and immunology.

Laboratory of Clinical Microbiology Meeting – Meetings are held on a monthly basis with basic science and clinical presentations by Wadsworth scientists.

Speed Rounds – Department of Health presentations are given on solutions to public health problems.

Wadsworth Seminars – Held weekly; broadly-based research presentations by external speakers.

Division Seminars – Held weekly; emphasize specialty areas by external speakers.

Director’s Seminars – Held monthly; research presentations by Wadsworth scientists.

Infectious Disease–Epidemiology Series – Monthly seminars feature collaborative presentations from Wadsworth clinical laboratory scientists and staff from the Division of Epidemiology, based on recent infectious disease outbreaks in New York State.

Pathogenesis and Infectious Disease Seminar Series – Held monthly; feature research of scientists from Wadsworth Center and other neighboring institutions.

Public Health Seminar Series – Held monthly; presentions by external speakers on current public health awareness issues.

Public Lectures Life, Science and Health – Offered by Wadsworth Center each spring to educate and excite the public about biomedical science. The series of six lectures focuses on a particular theme, such as genetics, infectious disease, neuroscience and the role of technology.
Retreats & Local/Regional
Conferences:

Biomedical Sciences Retreat – This departmental retreat is held annually as a colloquium with research presentations by Wadsworth scientists and poster presentations by students and fellows.

Local/Regional Conferences – Conferences are held annually and include the Albany Conference, Upstate Immunology Conference, and the American Society for Microbiology Conference, among others.

Post-doc Retreat – This institutional retreat is held annually as a forum by the Wadsworth Postdoctoral Association (PDA) to discuss science, career development, and postdoc issues.
