General Clinical Chemistry
The general
clinical chemistry section is involved in the study and
measurement of the chemical composition of blood and other
body fluids. Among biochemical components measured are
lipids, enzymes, electrolytes, substrates, and proteins.
The Wadsworth Center Clinical Chemistry Laboratories are
full service and research laboratories within the
Laboratory of Molecular Diagnostics.
The laboratory is certified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a reference laboratory for cholesterol and other lipid measurements. The laboratory also collaborates with other standards setting bodies in order to assure accurate measurements in the clinical laboratory.
