This slide was taken from a peripheral blood smear of a 27 year-old female diagnosed with acute monocytic leukemia. Her white blood cell count was noted to be 8.1 X 103/µL with a differential showing 75% monoblasts. The cells indicated by the arrow showed fine thread -like nuclear chromatin with indented nucleus and prominent multiple nucleoli. Blast cell not classified, myeloblast, and lymphoblast were all acceptable answers.
