New York State Department of Health - Wadsworth Center - Cytohematology Proficiency Testing
Slide 105 [100X]
Slide105 was taken from the same case as slide 102. The patient is a 52 year-old male with a history of CML. The arrowed cell is a monocyte. The nucleus exhibits cerebriform folding with blue-purple fine reticular chromatin. This is in contrast to the clumped nuclear chromatin pattern of the adjacent segmented neutrophil. Cytoplasmic tags are visible along the monocyte cell periphery and vacuoles are evident within the cytoplasm.|
