| These four images were taken from the 1997 Cytohematology Proficiency
Test Event - Slide 004. All four images represent myeloblasts. A
myeloblast is the earliest recognizable cell of the neutrophilic series.
It is usually 15-20 µm in diameter. The nucleus is round or slightly
oval and occupies about four-fifths of the cell. The cytoplasm is usually
moderately blue in color, smooth, and nongranular. It occupies one-fifth
of the cell.
