Clinical Chemistry and Hematology

Testing tubes

The hematology section applies molecular, cellular and morphological techniques to the study of blood, blood-forming tissues, and blood diseases. The laboratory has an interest and expertise in areas such as hemostasis, thrombosis, metabolism, and morphology. This laboratory is particularly interested in the study of blood coagulation and fibrinolysis and the use of hemostatic tests as markers of disease.

Staff scientists design and carry out the New York proficiency testing programs in these important areas of laboratory medicine: Cellular hematology, coagulation, and cytohematology.
