Suggested Driving Directions to Renssealearville - Map of the area
From Downtown Albany Area and I-787
Travel I-90 West. Leave I-90 at Exit 4 (Slingerlands/State Route 85). Follow State Route 85 West for 4.6 miles where Route 85 continues by turning Right at the traffic light (Blue Cross/Blue Shield building on left). Continue on Route 85 through towns of New Scotland and New Salem. At stop sign and intersection of Routes 85 and 443 (across the road is a Stewart's Shop convenience store), turn Right and follow Route 85 for 12 miles to Rensselaerville. After you pass the Rensselaerville Body Shop on your Left, the Rensselaerville Institute entrance is on the Right off Route 85.
From Montreal, Saratoga, Albany County Airport, the Northway(I-87) and Northern New York State
Leave I-87 at Exit 1E and proceed East on I-90 toward Albany for 1.7 miles to Exit 4 (Slingerlands/State Route 85). Follow directions for State Route 85 listed above.
From Buffalo, Syracuse, Canajoharie and Points West
Leave the NY State Thruway at Exit 29, Canajoharie, and follow State Route South through Sharon Springs until reaching the intersection of State Route 145. Proceed South on Route 145 through Cobleskill and continuing on Route 145 by turning Right at traffic light outside Cobleskill and continuing 7.3 miles to Middleburg. Follow directions for Route 145 under "FROM POINTS WEST AND SOUTH, VIA I-88" listed below.
From Points West and South, Via I-88
Get off I-88 at Exit 22. Take State Route 145 South and go 7.3 miles (heading toward Middleburg). At the red blinking light turn Left (Following signs for Route 145 South). Proceed across bridge and bear right into Middleburg. Follow Route 145 for 9.3 miles until reaching Livingstonville. At intersection of Route 145 and Schoharie County Route 19A turn Left (Signage is small and easy to miss, the turn is on the Left side of the road). Proceed for 3.5 miles up Schoharie County Route 19A (road is narrow and winding) until road changes route number to Albany County Route 353. Continue on Route 353 for 4.5 miles where you will be traveling downhill and enter the hamlet of Rensselaerville. Cross the bridge next to the large red grist mill and turn Left on Pond Hill Road. Continue to the top of the hill and turn Right at The Rensselaerville Institute white entrance sign onto the Conference Center campus.
From Massachusetts, Connecticut and Points East
Follow the New York State Thruway (Massachusetts Turnpike, Berkshire Spur) toward I-87. After crossing over the "Castleton-on-Hudson" bridge, follow sign saying "Exit 22-61, I-87, I-90 North to Albany." Leave I-87 at Exit 22, Selkirk. Turn Right after the tollbooth onto State Route 144 South (not shown on map). Go approx. 1/8 mile and turn Right on State Route 396 West. Continue on Route 396 for 12 miles, the route number will change from State Route 396 to Albany County Route 301 - stay straight on the same road. Follow Route 301 for a few miles to a stop sign at a four-corner intersection of Route 301 and State Route 32. Turn Left on Route 32 and continue for approximately 5 miles. At top of hill, turn Right on Route 143 toward Westerlo. Continue on Route 143 through village of Westerlo and route number will change to Albany County Route 1. Stay straight on the same road. At stop sign and blinking red light at intersection of Albany County Route 1 and State Route 85, turn Left on Route 85 West toward Rensselaerville. Continue on Route 85 for approximately 5.5 miles to Rensselaerville. After you pass the Rensselaerville Body Shop on your Left, the Rensselaerville Institute entrance is on the Right off Route 85.
From New York City and Points South
Leave I-87 (NY Thruway) at Exit 21, Catskill. Turn Left after the tollbooth and proceed for 0.5 mile to the Right turn entrance to State Route 23 West. Proceed West on Route 23 for approximately 8 miles; at the traffic light turn Right onto State Route 32 North. Follow Route 32 for about 9 miles to Greenville (traffic light at intersection with State Route 81). Stay on Route 32 for 2 miles past the Greenville traffic light to the intersection of Albany County Route 405. Shepard Farm Hotel will be on your Left at intersection. Turn Left onto Route 405 and travel 4.5 miles until Routes 405 and 402 intersect. Turn Left on Route 402, proceed 0.6 mile then bear Right at the fork, Route 402 Extension, to Route 351. Bear Right on Route 351 and proceed 4.4 miles to Rensselaerville. Once in the hamlet, turn Right on Pond Hill Road. Continue to the top of the hill and turn Right at The Rensselaerville Institute white entrance sign onto the Conference Center campus.
