Anaerobic Bacteriology
This unit performs the following:- Identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing of anaerobic bacteria
- Detection of Bacillus cereus in fecal specimens and food samples from foodborne outbreaks
- Culture & toxin testing for Clostridium botulinum from fecal, serum, animal and environmental specimens
- Culture & identification of Clostridium perfringens from fecal and food specimens
- Culture & identification of Clostridium difficile from fecal specimens
- Some organisms are identified using molecular techniques and/or cellular fatty acid analysis
