Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory Services
Since 1995, the Bacteriology Laboratory has been developing diagnostic molecular assays to supplement conventional testing. The assays developed are for public health purposes. The mission of this unit is to develop new assays to detect and characterize pathogenic bacteria and to incorporate these assays into routine molecular diagnostics for clinical and outbreak related specimens.
- Detection of bacteria by real-time PCR
- Characterization of bacteria by real-time PCR and sequence analysis
- Investigation of new technologies
