The Virology Proficiency Testing Program is part of the Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program (CLEP) and the Clinical Virology Program of the Wadsworth Center, New York State Department of Health. Virology Proficiency Testing laboratory staff prepare quality-assured samples to be sent to CLEP permitted laboratories that perform diagnostic laboratory tests on specimens from New York State residents.
Virology Proficiency Testing panels are available to laboratories holding CLEP permits for the following categories: General, Herpes Group Viruses Only and Direct Antigen Detection. Panels are sent in January, May and September each year.
