Division of Translational Medicine

The Division of Translational Medicine examines the cells and biomolecular complexes ("molecular machines") responsible for fundamental processes, including immune responses, cell division, and protein synthesis, which, when defective, cause diseases such as cancers, infections, and autoimmunity. Investigations are aimed at devising new diagnostic tools and therapies, such as changes at the molecular or cellular level that may have prognostic value.

The Division houses a national biotechnology resource in microscopy and core facilities in protein production and macromolecular analyses. Also, proficiency testing in cytology screening, hematology, tumor markers, and clinical chemistry is conducted.

Division Laboratories:

  • Cellular and Molecular Basis of Diseases
  • Neuronal Injury and Repair
  • Molecular Diagnostics
  • Scientific Cores
