Robyn M. Atkinson, Ph.D.
Dr. Atkinson is a southern transplant to the cold and snowy north. She received her bachelor of science in biochemistry from Clemson University in South Carolina in 1997. She went on to receive her doctorate in pathology from the University of Tennessee-Health Science Center in Memphis, TN, in 2002. During her time in graduate school, Dr. Atkinson became very interested in the clinical and diagnostic aspects of infectious diseases, and continued her education with a fellowship in medical and public health microbiology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO, in June of 2005. After completing the fellowship, Dr Atkinson wanted to take this diagnostic knowledge and apply it to protecting the public from infectious agents and joined the Wadsworth Center as the director of the Bacteriology Laboratory in July of 2005.
