2006 Public Lecture Series

Paul J. Davis, M.D.

Dr. Davis is a physician-scientist who studies the molecular basis of actions of hormones. His research group has recently identified novel receptors for hormones and hormone antagonists specifically relevant to tumor cell growth and to new blood vessel formation (angiogenesis). Dr. Davis obtained his clinical and research training at Harvard Medical School, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and the NIH. He has served on the faculties of Johns Hopkins, University at Buffalo, and Albany Medical College. At Albany Medical College, he was professor and chair, Department of Medicine from 1990 to 1999. He currently is director of Ordway Research Institute, a research corporation linked to the Wadsworth Center, Albany Medical College and the University at Albany. He has served as president of the American Thyroid Association and as governor of the NYS Chapter of the American College of Physicians.
