Michael Koonce, Ph.D.
Dr Koonce received his doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley in 1987 and postdoctoral training at the University of Colorado, in Boulder. He joined the Wadsworth Center as a research scientist in 1993, where he examines the molecular mechanisms of cell movement. Dr Kooncešs work uses a structural biology approach to develop a 3D model of how the cytoplasmic dynein motor generates force. He also explores dynein functions in cells via molecular genetic manipulations and live cell analyses. His efforts are currently supported by both the National Institutes of Heath and the National Science Foundation.
