Life, Science and Health: This free series of lectures to educate and excite the public about biomedical science is held each spring.
Wadsworth Center researchers teach the process and principles of scientific inquiry, from the basic concepts through cutting-edge research. With lively graphics, everyday language and openness to questions, the speakers cover topics within a given theme, such as genetics, neuroscience or infectious diseases.
Legislative Workshops
Annual Legislative Workshops: In its role as scientific advisor to state government, the Wadsworth Center each year presents an interactive workshop to update legislative and executive staff about scientific advances with implications for public health policy.
The workshop features demonstrations, laboratory tours, brief presentations and informal discussions. Participants learn about research tools and techniques utilized against threats to public health; the development of more rapid and reliable tests; and new methods to track outbreaks of, or predict the course of, disease. Late breaking sessions on topical health news are also included.
