Grants Awarded to Wadsworth Investigators

Wadsworth Center Investigator Dr. Anne Messer, Director of the Laboratory of Molecular Neurogenetics, was awarded a 2-year $403,000 National Institutes of Health grant on "Harnessing novel cell-penetrating antibodies”. This is an exploratory/developmental award for drug discovery for neurological diseases. Director of the Laboratory of Molecular Neurogenetics.

Wadsworth Center Investigator Dr. Michael Koonce, Deputy Director, Division of Translational Medicine, was awarded a 3-year, $530,000 grant by the National Science Foundation to study “Molecular Dynamics of Centrosome-Nuclear Interactions”. A highlight of the grant is participation by undergraduate students from Sage and Siena College who will learn advanced techniques of light and electron microscopy.

Wadsworth Center Investigators Drs. Liaquat Husain and Vincent Dutkiewicz, were awarded a National Science Foundation grant for a 3-year, $381,621 study of “Lake sediments as records of Atmospheric Elemental Carbon Concentrations 1900 to 2014”. The data is critical to validation of the global circulation model which is used to predict long term changes in the climate based on emissions of black carbon from consumption of fossil fuel and biomass burning.
