A permit for this category is held by donor banks and laboratories under contract to banks that perform any tests on donors of human organs and/or tissues for transfer, transfusion or transplantation. Mandated tests include syphilis-reagin or treponemal antibody, hepatitis B surface antigen, hepatitis B core antibody, hepatitis C antibody, and human T lymphotropic virus I/II antibody. HIV testing is also a mandated test, however it must be performed under the category of Human Immunodeficiency Virus. NOTE: All donor services serology laboratories must also hold the category Diagnostic Services Serology if they perform other tests on donor specimens or any of the above donor mandated tests on patient specimens for diagnostic or prognostic purposes.
