Consumer Education Work Group
Vision: The general public can recognize the roles played by genetics in their health and the health of their children and families and know how to access and use the information and medical services they need for optimum care of themselves and their families.
Goal 1: Support the emphasis and implementation of prevention strategies including earlier prenatal screening and addressing disparities.
Goal 2: Improve the effectiveness of dissemination of existing materials including linkages to national disease associations and federal sites such as the CDC.
Goal 3: Improve consumer education at all levels with leverage of new technology including literacy levels and languages other than English.
