Mycology Proficiency Testing Program (PTP)
Mycology PTP
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Mycology Category consists of five subcategories: General, Yeasts Only, Antifungal Testing Yeasts Only, Direct Detection (new category) and Restricted (formerly Limited).
Proficiency Testing (PT) is available for the subcategories Mycology - General, Mycology - Yeasts Only, Mycology - Antifungal Testing Yeasts Only and Direct Detection. PT samples are mailed three times per year, each consisting of a minimum of five samples. Failure to attain an overall testing score of at least 80% is unsatisfactory performance.
Proficiency Testing is not available for the subcategory Mycology - Restricted. For those areas of laboratory medicine for which proficiency testing programs are not available, the laboratory is required to have an alternate system for verifying the reliability and accuracy of their test results at least twice a year. This can be accomplished through participation in other external proficiency testing programs or through the implementation of an internal proficiency testing program.
Detailed information about the proficiency testing program can be found in the Guide to Program Requirements and Services (Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) file). For additional information or information in an alternate format please contact us. [HELP with PDF files.]
