3-D Electron Microscopy Group
Mission
The 3D-EM group at Wadsworth develops advanced methods of three-dimensional imaging with the electron microscope to look at different levels of biological architecture. Their aim is to integrate this new structural knowledge with existing data to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the structure and dynamics of biological systems. Single-particle reconstructions methods are used to study macromolecular interactions in isolated, well-characterized systems, while electron tomography provides detailed 3D information about cellular ultrastructure.
