Admissions

Students applying for the Ph.D. program must submit their application packet to the Office of Graduate Admissions by January 15 to receive full consideration for a graduate assistantship. Students applying for the M.S. program must submit their application through the website http://www.sophas.org April 1.

Applicants to either the M.S. or Ph.D. program are expected to hold a baccalaureate with a combined total of at least 42 credits in biology, chemistry, and mathematics. On a case by case basis, consideration will be given to other undergraduate backgrounds, in which case consultation with the program is recommended prior to submitting an application. Applicants are required to submit official scores of the Graduate Record Examination aptitude test; the advanced test in biology, chemistry, or physics is recommended. A minimum score of 600 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (or 250 on the computerized test) is required for international students.
