
Wadsworth Center
The Wadsworth Center is part of the New York State Department of Health, located in Albany, NY. It occupies over 800,000 square feet of laboratory space and has a staff of 1100, with 170 doctoral-level research scientists, and another 50 postdoctoral fellows and visiting scientists. The Wadsworth Center's unique mission as both a public health and basic research laboratory has given rise to a vibrant, diverse and inherently interdisciplinary institution with unique technological capabilities. Instrumentation for use in environmental toxicology and chemistry research includes high and low resolution mass spectrometers interfaced to gas and liquid chromatographs, electron microscopes and a 600 MHz NMR spectrometer.
Center for Environmental Health
Located in nearby Troy, NY, the Center is an interdisciplinary research and educational component of the NYS Department of Health. Scientific, medical, engineering and public health expertise are applied to the identification, understanding, prevention and mitigation of risks to human health from New York's living and working environments. The Center has three divisions: the Division of Environmental Health Assessment, the Division of Environmental Protection and the Division of Occupational Health and Epidemiology.
