NYS LRN Laboratories
Reference Laboratories
The NYS LRN reference laboratories include:
- Wadsworth Center
- New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Public Health Laboratory
- Erie County Public Health Laboratory
- Westchester County Department of Laboratories and Research
Clinical Sentinel Laboratories
NYS LRN sentinel laboratories include the approximately 240 clinical laboratories that hold a permit from the Wadsworth Center's Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program in the categories of bacteriology general, virology general, or virology-herpes group viruses only. Sentinel laboratories must hold an appropriate NYS laboratory permit, follow recommended safety practices, follow LRN testing protocols, submit material for confirmatory testing to a LRN reference laboratory, and establish/maintain a secure Health Provider Network account. Sentinel laboratories benefit from LRN participation by receiving up-to-date preparedness information and advisories, instructional materials, and free enrollment in outreach programs. To determine your laboratory's eligibility as a sentinel laboratory, please contact the LRN program staff.
Environmental Laboratories
The Wadsworth Center's Environmental Laboratory Approval Program grants certification to commercial, facility self-monitoring and government operated environmental laboratories for several categories of environmental sample testing, including critical (select) agent testing. All environmental laboratories analyzing samples from NYS must be certified.
