The Laboratory of Viral Diseases' Molecular Methods Development Team evaluates high complexity diagnostic assays and platforms in order to enhance molecular-based diagnostics in virology and support Wadsworth Center's ability to rapidly respond to the emergence of viral pathogens.

Chief, Laboratory of Viral Diseases

We develop viral detection and characterization assays and investigate new molecular chemistries and platforms. Research includes rhinovirus infection in transplant recipients, drug-resistant influenza and adenovirus evolution.

Arthur H. Totten, PhD, F(CCM), D(ABMM)

Dr. Totten is responsible for clinical, reference and surveillance testing for viruses and the investigation of outbreaks and emerging viral pathogens
