Meetings of the Health Science Research Board are subject to New York State's Open Meetings Law. Advance notices will be posted here and on the Department of Health's web site. Links to real-time webcasts and archived webcasts (available for 30 days) will also appear here.
Members of the public who wish to attend the meetings are asked to abide by the Board's Guidelines for Observers.

February 8, 2011- The Health Research Science Board's Committee on Program Needs and Effectiveness met to review and approve a draft RFA for education research projects.
December 1, 2010- The Health Research Science Board's Committee on Program Needs and Effectiveness met to review a draft RFA for education research projects and to consider a concept proposal for future RFA development. The full board meeting scheduled for this date was cancelled.
October 1, 2010- The Health Research Science Board held two regular business meetings, morning and afternoon. The Board did not have a quorum so no official business was conducted at either meeting. Board members reviewed the draft Biennial Report, heard a presentation on parliamentary procedures, and held its annual public hearing, during which it received a report from DEC staff titled "The Efficiency and Utility of Pesticide Reporting." The scheduled meeting of the Committee on Funding and Outreach was cancelled.
September 13, 2010- The Health Research Science Board’s Committee on Program Needs and Effectiveness held a meeting to discuss the drafting of breast cancer education research Requests for Applications. Minutes
June 4, 2010- The Health Research Science Board met in Albany and New York City. The Board approved a change to its Bylaws, received reports from DOH and DEC Commissioners' designees, heard reports from the Board's three committees, and received a scientific presentation by Kenneth Aldous, PhD.
The Board's Committee on Funding and Outreach also met. Members planned strategies for outreach to academic institutions and discussed promotion of established pathways for making donations to the fund administered by the Board.

May 17, 2010- The Health Research Science Board's Committee on Research Needs and Education Program Effectiveness met in Albany and Great Neck to discuss the drafting of the 2010 Scientific Research Request for Applications. The committee will provide a report and recommendation to the full Board at the June 4, 2010 HRSB meeting.
March 19, 2010- The Health Research Science Board held a regular business meeting in Syracuse. The Board recommended funding eight proposals from applications received in response to the Peter T. Rowley Breast Cancer Research Projects and Postdoctoral Fellowships RFA. Among its activities, the Board also received program updates from staff, considered a change to its Bylaws, received reports from its committees and from DOH and DEC Commissioner Designees. March 19, 2010- The Funding and Outreach Committee of the Health Research Science Board met in Syracuse. The committee discussed the creation of a database of breast cancer researchers and institutions so program staff can reach out to them to promote funding opportunities and e-Alerts subscription. October 2, 2009 - The Health Science Research Board held a regular business meeting and its annual public hearing in Albany. The Board voted to recommend funding for a project proposal received in response to the 2009 Patricia S. Brown Breast Cancer Education Community-Based Demonstration Projects competition. During the public hearing, the Board received a report from DEC on the efficiency and utility of pesticide reporting. Meetings of two of the Board's committees were also held to discuss funding and outreach, and research and education needs.
June 5, 2009 - The Health Science Research Board held a regular business meeting in Syracuse. The Board received updates from program staff, approved an operational policy regarding Postdoctoral Fellowship awards, accepted "A Report on Household Pesticide Use Reporting in Oregon and its Relation to New York," and continued working on establishing committee priorities.
March 6, 2009- The Health Science Research Board held a regular business meeting in Syracuse. The Board approved "Duties and Responsibilities" for its three standing committees and approved a revision to policies on publications and intellectual property rights.
October 3, 2008 AM- The Health Science Research Board held a regular business meeting in New York City. The Board reviewed proposed changes to the bylaws and considered the issuance of two RFAs.
October 3, 2008 PM- The Health Science Research Board held a regular business meeting and public hearing in New York City. The Board voted on changes to the bylaws and received program updates, Pesticide committee update and an update regarding the use of the Pesticide Sales and Use Registry.
April 11, 2007 AM- Health Science Research Board held a regular business meeting in Albany. The Board considered revisions to pesticide data request forms.

Symposia
2007 Mini-Symposium: Advancing Breast Cancer Research in New York State, October 26, 2007 at the Hilton Garden Inn at Albany Medical Center62 New Scotland Avenue, Albany, New York.
This event was attended by more than 40 HRSB-funded breast cancer researchers, postdoctoral fellows and their mentors, breast Cancer advocates and survivors, State Legislators, public health officials, and members of the general public. Following opening remarks from Lawrence S. Sturman, M.D., PhD, Director of the Department of Health's Wadsworth Canter, five HRSB-funded postdoctoral fellows in breast cancer research presented their findings. These presentations were selected by the Board from among more than 30 abstracts as a representation of the breadth of exciting breast cancer research in New York State. A poster session was held to review the investigations of each of the remaining funded fellows.
