The Wadsworth Center’s Division of Environmental Health Sciences (DEHS) is comprised of organic, inorganic and microbiological laboratories where skilled staff are relied upon to analyze environmental samples and human specimens, to identify and quantitate chemical contaminants that are known or suspected to be hazardous to public health.
This position in the Laboratory of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry is essential to support drinking water testing in small public water supplies throughout New York State as mandated by state and federal regulations.
The position supports the laboratory’s role in assisting with the compliance of new water supplies and in the investigation of non-compliant systems at the request of the Department of Health’s Center for Environmental Health (CEH).
In addition to analytical testing, responsibilities include preparing, labeling, and adding preservatives to sample bottles, as well as packaging and shipping sampling kits to local county health departments.
