Ms. Beverly Rauch, Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program (CLEP) Director at the NYS DOH’s Wadsworth Center, delivered a featured presentation at the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Blood Banks Association of New York (BBANYS). 

CLEP is responsible for regulatory oversight of all clinical laboratories and blood banks operating within New York State, ensuring compliance with standards that safeguard the quality and integrity of clinical testing and blood product handling.

BBANYS, whose mission is to unite and educate healthcare professionals in transfusion medicine, cellular therapy, and apheresis, aims to uphold the highest standards in patient safety and blood product utilization from donor to recipient.

At the conference, which focused on emerging practices in transfusion medicine and innovative approaches to patient management, Ms. Rauch:

  • Presented updated New York State requirements for blood banking operations
  • Provided regulatory guidance to support compliance and quality assurance
  • Shared statewide data on blood supply levels and transfusion incidents affecting patient outcomes
