Arryn Craney, PhD (D)ABMM
Dr. Arryn Craney serves as the Clinical Laboratory Director at the Wadsworth Center, providing regulatory oversight for clinical testing programs supporting infectious disease detection, newborn screening, and clinical chemistry across multiple laboratory sites. Her work centers on strengthening quality systems across multi-site clinical operations and ensuring alignment with state and federal regulatory requirements.
Trained as a molecular microbiologist with expertise in antimicrobial resistance and next-generation sequencing, Dr. Craney’s research and applied interests focus on the development, evaluation, and implementation of diagnostics that can be deployed across diverse clinical environments. She is particularly interested in how emerging technologies—such as culture-independent detection, metagenomic sequencing, and rapid diagnostics—can improve patient care, accessibility, and public health response.
Beyond her regulatory and leadership responsibilities, Dr. Craney develops accessible antimicrobial resistance and diagnostic data resources, including citizen-science efforts that expand public understanding and responsible use of infectious disease information. Her work reflects a long-standing commitment to building diagnostic capacity, improving access to high-quality testing, and advancing the interface between innovation, regulation, and public health.
