The Advanced Genomics Technology Cluster (AGTC) Core at the Wadsworth Center is continuing to expand its automation capabilities to support both research and clinical sequencing workflows. As part of this effort, hands-on, advanced technical training is essential to ensure the Center can independently maintain and optimize these high-throughput systems.
To support this initiative, Mary Pysnik and Charles Robinson completed an intensive, two-day training program at Revvity’s Hopkinton, MA facility from November 17-18, 2025. The training focused on advanced programming and operation of Revvity’s automated liquid-handling platforms, which are integral to the Wadsworth Center’s clinical sequencing operations. They received detailed instruction in:
- Advanced instrument programming for liquid-handling automation
- Troubleshooting and error recovery to resolve issues rapidly and minimize downtime
- Optimizing and customizing workflows for greater robustness and adaptability
- Database and program management for maintaining reliable, scalable systems
This training provides the Wadsworth Center with the in-house expertise to perform key instrument operations and maintenance without relying heavily on manufacturer technical services. This will allow for faster troubleshooting, better workflow optimization, and greater autonomy in developing and validating automated sequencing pipelines, increasing efficiency, reproducibility, and throughput in genomics testing and ultimately will lead to faster, more reliable analyses and enhance the delivery of timely diagnostic information for New York State residents.
