Training and Education

On-site Training

The Diagnostic Immunology Laboratory has hosted visiting scientists from academic and public health institutions in an effort to learn new techniques and assay development. The laboratory has provided assay development training for improved human diagnostic testing, as well as aided in the development of animal diagnostic testing.

The Diagnostic Immunology Laboratory serves as a rotation site for the Wadsworth Center’s Masters in Laboratory Science (MLS) students. The students not only gain insight into the various pathogens and diseases and how the laboratory uses diagnostic tests to determine if a patient has been exposed to the pathogen, but also proper specimen handling, quality control and quality assurance measures, result interpretation and reporting.
