Research Projects:

  • Expand use of targeted next generation sequencing in clinical parasitology
  • Develop digital droplet PCR assays for quantitative testing of bloodborne parasites
  • Develop RNA-based detection assays, such as transcription-mediated amplification for increased sensitivity and multiplex detection of parasites in complex specimens
  • Evaluate molecular testing of dried blood spots for the detection of Plasmodium
  • Develop a comprehensive set of conventional PCR and sequencing primers sequencing to aid in identification of helminth specimens
